The hotel opened its doors in 1944, 85 miles from NYC in Lock Sheldrake, New York.

A multiple-alarm fire struck the Grandview Palace condominiums in Loch Sheldrake Saturday evening, one month after its managers agreed to correct fire-safety and building-code violations. More than 43 fire companies and 300 firemen from multiple counties fought the fire. Seven of the nine main structures were destroyed by the fire. The fire is said to have been started in a basement boiler room.
