Europe’s most active volcano, Mount Etna erupts for the fifth time this year (Video)

Europe’s tallest and most active volcano, Mount Etna, erupts for the fifth time this year. After the volcano started erupting just after 4 am local time on Sunday hot lava could be seen moving down the mountain’s side.

The eruption took 90 minutes but no damage or major disruption was reported. Etna, which is 11,000ft high and located 18 miles above the Sicilian town of Catania, often erupts but rarely causes damage. Earlier eruptions was recorded on January 5, January 27, between February 8 and 9, March 4 and 18.

The previous eruptions this year were not as destructive as the March 11, 1669 eruption where 10 neighboring villages were destroyed.
