A team of Russian Geologists have discovered what they believe to be fossilized dinosaur in a mountainous area of Chechnya.
Reports say that the eggs found in Chechnya were laid by plant eating dinosaurs 60 million years ago.
“We’ve found about 40 eggs so far, the exact number has not been established,” said Said-Emin Dzhabrailov, a geologist at the Chechen State University. He added, “The diameter of Dinosaur egg ranges between 63 centimetres and one meter.”
“There could be many more laying under the ground.”
One of the expedition members is not convinced, Ramzan Vagapo, says he does not believe the eggs were laid by dinosaurs and will deliver a sample to a group of Russian palaeontologists for further testing including carrying out a series of radiocarbon dating tests. While most of the Chechen scientists are “90 percent” confident of their findings.
Chechen government is considering turning the area into a nature preserve and seeking to attract tourists.
