Man sentenced for Windsor Castle trespass

An Irish national has been banned from drinking in UK pubs for a year after admitting trespassing within the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Robert Pennefather, 32, claimed drunkenly scaled an 8ft-high gate to get into the grounds of the royal residence in Berkshire in the early hours of November 6, 2011.

London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court sentenced him a 14-day prison after pleading guilty to the single charge, on Friday.

Along with the suspended sentence, Pennefather, was banned from entering any licensed premises in the UK for 12 months, fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
