Before the show got started, President Barack Obama took a moment to give some history on the blues. Shortly, Mick Jagger, singer and songwriter held out a mic to the President and the last couldn’t say no. Obama was egged on to sing a little of “Sweet Home Chicago”.

Obama, on his way to sing, joked “I guess things even out a little bit”. He also says “This music speaks to something universal, No one goes through life without joy and pain, triumph and sorrow. The blues gets all of that, sometimes with just one lyric or one note”.
