Terrafugia (terra-FOO-gee-ah), based in Woburn, MA, is a growing aerospace company founded by pilots and engineers from MIT and supported by a world-class network of advisors and private investors. The company name is Latin for “escape the earth.” – terrafugia.com

The prototype of “Transition car plane” has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. It can also reach around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 in the air.

The Transition car plane flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes using an automotive fuel on it’s first test flight.
