Perfectly Preserved Woolly Mammoth found in Siberia. A young mammoth was found buried in Siberian ice for at least 10,000 years. The well preserved Mammoth carcass was found near the shores of the Arctic Ocean under the BBC/Discovery Channel-funded expedition. “Yuka” was the name given by the researchers for the juvenile woolly mammoth.

It would be the first mammoth carcass revealing signs of human interaction in the region.

“This is the first relatively complete mammoth carcass – that is, a body with soft tissues preserved – to show evidence of human association,” Daniel Fisher, curator and director of the University of Michigan’s Museum of Paleontology, told Discovery News.
