A heroic dog that risked her own life to save the lives of two young girls in the Philippines is getting much needed help from a group of UC Davis veterinarians.
The mixed-breed dog from the Philippines is now at the University of California, Davis, where the surgeons at the veterinary medical teaching hospital began examining its condition.
Kabang, the dog that lost snout is suffering from two serious health problems that will delay surgery to repair her face.
Kabang needs treatment for heartworm and will undergo chemotherapy for a vaginal tumor, Dr. Jane Sykes, UC Davis veterinarian told media, last Tuesday.
Sykes said both conditions are treatable and that veterinarians are “cautiously optimistic” that Kabang will recover and eventually return to her home country.
